Modern Ocean Beach Cottage

As a former resident of the area, its a great location. Close to the beach, nightlife and coffee shops, but residential enough to have quiet evenings. The front yard and dog friendly aspect was super nice too. Its a CA bungalow, so don't expect large rooms, do expect to be outside mostly and use the place as home base while you explore San Diego. It was clean, up to date and offered all and more that many CA homes have, including A/C. Will be coming back in future.

A cute and comfortable stay in charming Ocean Beach! We chose Denise’s listing because it was dog friendly, super close to Dog Beach, and had laundry and dedicated parking. We also had an extended stay (2 weeks) so we wanted to be comfortable. And we really could not have asked for more. The place was spotless and was in a great location. Communication was also great. 10/10 would consider booking again for our next stay in San Diego!

We LOVED this place! The location was perfect and the little bungalow was really nice! Clean and modern and beautiful little touches! The shower was the best we’ve ever had! Great water pressure, plenty of nice towels and very well done! It was fully fenced and so safe for our pups (who had the time of their lives at Dog Beach!) It felt and looked upscale for this kind of rental and we will 1000% return! So glad we chose this one over some others we were considering! People were friendly around us as well! Just take that street sweeping seriously! We almost received a ticket because we didn’t notice the sign but even there, the security guy was super nice and “forgave us” as we went to our car (lucky timing lol) As of our stay, don’t park on the house side Wednesday morning from 8am-1:00pm. Just a helpful tip ;) but check the sign that is a few houses down from us as you turn left!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND booking this one!

Lovely place to stay for a week with my 2 dogs, 1 large and 1 medium-sized. The dog beach is 5 minutes away with great coffee spots to pick up a cup to go. The street was imazingly quiet even on a Friday night. The house has lots of curb appeal and the artificial turf was perfect for my dogs to play on. Good eats nearby but I drove to most spots....Kiko's truck (just google it) for ceviche and tacos--really fresh, C-Level for Christmas dinner was outstanding, take a drive for a good Jewish pastrami on rye to Mesa (AZ Akins)....fried clams at Pete's (maybe the best clam strips I have ever had)...internet worked well, I didn't watch TV but house has 2 large screens. Kitchen was well-equipped and spacious. Highly recommend this house and of course, perfect if you vacation with your pups!

This place was perfect for our trip. The unit was spotless, and the amenities far exceeded expectations. The location was great; steps from the dog beach and a few minutes walk to all of the restaurants of downtown Ocean Beach. The unit had everything we needed and more: drive in garage, gated front yard for the dog, two very large televisions, dishwasher, washer/dryer, etc. Will stay here for any future trips to San Diego.

This is the 4th time I’ve rented an airbnb in OB and this was by far the nicest rental I’ve had! Everything is new and super clean. The yard was great for the dogs in between walks. The garage was so nice to have for parking. Our VW GTI fit just fine but a larger car would be harder to park. I would absolutely stay here again.

Overall had a great stay. The only warning I would give is if you plan on using the garage make sure you have a small vehicle. We drove a 4 door sedan and it was a tight squeeze. We opted for street parking the last half of our trip just to avoid trying to get in the garage.

Excellent Positive: Loved the location - short walk to the water. Nearby dog park. Easy to walk for coffee and a quick to go breakfast. Definitely would stay here again. Negative: There is a garage for parking, which I would have liked to use. However, our rental truck would not fit in the garage due to the turning radius required. Parking was easy enough to find, but the predetermined parking was one of the reasons I chose this place to stay. The truck was a free upgrade from the rental company, so could not have planned that. I would have appreciated a heads up about the tight parking though.

We loved our 5 night stay here! The neighborhood was quiet and the place was very clean and well stocked. The water pressure was very strong, but that was the only thing that took some getting used to! Great location and only a few blocks from the beach and restaurants. The host was very responsive and we even got to check in a little early. They were great!

We really enjoyed our stay at this unit. It's a short walk to both the dog beach and the people beach. It's also easy to walk to nearby restaurants, convenience stores, and parks. The unit is on a nice, quiet street. We enjoyed sitting out in front patio/yard area. We are long-time visitors at Ocean Beach and this is a very nice place to stay. The neighbors were friendly and welcoming. We had no problems and anytime we had a question or a request, our host answered quickly--very accommodating. We would definitely recommend this rental.

Denise and Dan were amazing hosts and their home was absolutely perfect for my wife, myself, and our two pups. The enclosed front yard was a huge plus to let our pups out whenever it was needed. Very close walk to dog beach and the heart of Ocean Beach which made coffee runs and beach treks very easy to do. Exactly as pictured! What a beautiful little place. Perfect location. So close to dog beach, tons of great restaurants and shopping! Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook a full meal; pots & pans, bowls, utensils, tons of serve-ware, cups, glasses, etc. Stocked with good coffee & creamer. Lots of towels and a very comfy bed. Fully gated yard for your pups. Literally everything you need for a comfortable stay! We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The house itself is beautifully appointed, sparkling clean, and so comfortable—we felt right at home from the moment we walked in. The front yard and patio are nothing short of amazing, especially with our four furry “babies” in tow—it was so convenient to let them stretch their legs safely. Having a hose on the patio to rinse off sandy paws after the beach was a small detail that made a huge difference. Speaking of which, the proximity to the dog beach was perfect, and our senior pup appreciated the easy access. We also loved being within a short, pleasant stroll of great restaurants and shops. Our hosts were warm, attentive, and incredibly quick to respond to any questions or requests. We can’t recommend this place highly enough and will absolutely be back the next time we’re in the area!

The property was as advertised — clean, well-equipped, and in a great location. We enjoyed our stay and found the space to be comfortable and welcoming overall. One note for future guests: we did notice some small bugs, including water gnats and a few crawling insects that seemed to come from under the bathroom wall. We also had to remove two nickel-sized spiders, one in the living room and another in the kitchen. Not a major issue, but worth mentioning so the host can address it for future stays.

We stayed here with our pet dog. the location is perfect, close to the dog beach and restaurants. It has a parking garage which is a little tight, but we were also able to park the car right outside the house on the street. It has a fenced front yard which was perfect to let our dog enjoy the weather outside and say hello to every passing potential friend. I forgot to bring my beach blanket, the host was very nice to offer one and left it on our door, we really appreciated the personal touch.

the cottage is clean and close to some delicious restaurants and most importantly, the dog beach! it’s truly in a perfect location. the garage is not attached to the house and even though my mid sized suv technically could fit, it was near impossible to do so. parking wasn’t too bad though. neighborhood is quiet and everyone around was friendly and we felt safe.

We parked the car in the garage and never moved it until we left. Everything we did was within walking distance. Morning coffee, restaurants, convenience store, Dog Beach, Ocean Beach. Would absolutely stay here again, but make it a longer stay. Our party was 2 adults, 2 young teenagers and 2 small dogs. The gated front yard was a perfect space for the dogs to explore. Everything was clean and exactly as pictured and described.

Perfect size for me, my partner, and our dog. Very clean and everything we needed for a week's stay including kitchen supplies, a/c, and washer and dryer. On a busy pedestrian street, but quiet at night. Quick walk to the beach and about 10-15 minute walk to restaurants and bars. Nice to have the garage which was a bit tight width-wise for our car which is a 2025 Honda CRV (height and length were fine). Would definitely stay here again!

The apartment was clean, comfortable, and well laid out—like a 1BR in a busy LA neighborhood, but here it’s much more peaceful, with a laid-back, hippie vibe in the neighborhood. The apartment has clearly been renovated with care by the owner, and we had a very relaxing stay. It’s so close to Dog Beach that our dog got to run around there every morning during our four-day stay—she loved it! There’s a hose by the entrance, which was perfect for rinsing off beach sand from our dog. If you’re bringing a dog, bring your own towels—but no worries, there’s a small washer and dryer, so you can easily wash and dry them. We also enjoyed shopping for local produce at the Co-op Market and the Wednesday evening Farmers Market. We appreciated that the owner, Denise, was responsive and helpful whenever we had questions. Highly recommend this place—we’d love to come back again!

Almost perfect! Positive: Awesome place. Clean and excellent location for the dog beach which was our main focus. Good value for us, we enjoyed staying here. Owners were friendly and prompt response. Updated interior and it felt homey. We would definitely stay here again. Negative: The only very minor issues we had was when we arrived, there was someone doing touch up paint inside. Which wasn't really a problem except I was given notification that everything was ready early and we didn't even arrive early so it was unexpected to see things were not ready? Again minor. The gentleman left within a couple minutes. Then we had an issue with the key pad to the garage not working. Owners came by and found the battery was dead. Again, minor issue and it was solved that same evening.

we loved our stay here for the week over christmas. the short walk to dog beach for our twice daily fun time was everything, 👉 super happy K9 🐾❣️also, the gated yard was great for keeping her safe transitioning to/from the apartment. the unit is immaculate and feels brand new. appliances are great and the couch and bed were very comfy. the water pressure is fantastic, so showers were stellar… lol! we walked daily to coffee, cocktails, dining and shopping. lastly, we found street parking daily in front, but the garage was great to have as we staged our bicycles and dog trailer for easy access there. we would definitely stay again and highly recommend! happy new year~

Walk to the beach, best local guidebook, perfectly clean and comfortable house, what more can you ask for during a beach vacation. Denise’s location was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better location to relax in and have as a home base during my visit to San Diego. I highly reccomend anyone who wants a perfect space to enjoy all that Ocean Beach and San Diego has to offer to stay in this or other of Denise’s property’s. She is the perfect host. :)
