Modern 1 BR Apt - Walk to Ocean & Shops

This place exceeded our expectations. I have stayed at other Airbnb’s in San Diego and around the country and have never felt more at home. The apartment is SPOTLESS, the hosts are super responsive, kind, and helpful. They were flexible with our timeline, and went above and beyond to accommodate us. The apartment has every comfort of home, even beach towels! The kitchen is fully stocked, and I was able to make most of our meals there. The apartment is on a second story and above a single car garage available for you to park in or keep your surfboards. It has only one shared wall with another apartment, so it’s super quiet and private. There’s a small entrance balcony with chairs where you can enjoy the ocean breeze. The location is great and only about 2 blocks from the beach, coffee shops, and a few blocks from the library, restaurants and shops. If you’re looking for a hassle free place to stay with all the comforts and amenities, make sure to book this place, it’s AMAZING!!!

This was a home away from home for me and my family. We loved the place so much! Dan was the absolute BEST host, super friendly and always helpful. The apartment was squeaky clean and just as described; it was a peaceful and beautiful retreat. Loved the washer & dryer, the water purifier pitcher, the air conditioner, the garage for parking, and that we could just walk to the beach (2 blocks away). The bed was super comfortable and had amazing pillows. The sectional couch turned into a queen size bed, great for kids, or an extra person. One of the big highlights for me was the shower! The water pressure was just awesome and taking a shower felt super relaxing. If you have a chance to stay here, do! This place exceeded all my expectations, and I will definitely stay there again. Definitely the best and cleanest airbnb in OB.

I had an amazing stay! The place was pristine and close to a lot of local shops, bars, and restaurants. The interior was cute, comfortable, clean, and exactly as described. My travel plans changed last minute, and Dan & Becky went above and beyond to assist! They were incredibly responsive and happy to help. I will definitely stay here again in the future!

The stay was exactly what I needed before the busy holiday season with my family. I decided to take a weekend break at the last minute and they accommodated me. I got in late and they were very responsive in helping me find my way around. The home was beautiful and exactly as pictured. Walking distance from restaurants and the beach. You can't beat the location if you want to be in Ocean Beach. The unit felt like a hotel in the best way possible - updated finishes, lots of towels, Keurig cups, etc. We would recommend anyone to stay here!

Incredible location only a few minute walk to the dog beach and to several restaurants and bars! The place is bright and nicely renovated/decorated, with modern touches and appliances. There were some ants present in the bathroom and kitchen areas, but the hosts have taken measures to mitigate this and were responsive when I mentioned it to them. The place can be a bit difficult to find at first but once you know where it’s at you’re set. As mentioned by the hosts, the garage is tight so if you’ve got a large vehicle it may not be practical, but it was nice to have secure parking available. Overall a great spot and I would stay here again.

we absolutely loved our 3 night stay here this past weekend! the apartment is right in the middle of OB, a short walk to the beach and all of the best restaurants and bars in town which was amazing. That being said, the apartment still felt private and quiet on nights we wanted to stay in. The couch and bed were both very comfy and we loved having two TVS to stream our favorites. Would definitely stay here again!

This place is in a great location - very short walk to the beach, coffee shop, OB farmer's market and co-op. Despite it being right in the heart of Ocean Beach, this apartment is very quiet, which I appreciated. Bed is comfy, TV's are HUGE and wifi is solid. Would recommend.

Lovely weekend stay at this apartment! Extremely clean and neat with the feel of a high end hotel but with more room. Quiet area but still within walking distance to many restaurants, shops, the beach. The only downsides were the quality of the bedding sheets and the shampoo/conditioner. I would bring my own toiletries the next time I stay. Would definitely stay again!

For a pet-friendly place, it was exceptionally clean! Close to Mission Bay, beaches, and a quick drive to airport or downtown. I had one question and they were super quick to respond. The beach (and dog beach) are a few blocks away. Very convenient to have a dedicated garage parking space (note that it is small, as listed in the description. Fits a full-size car, but it’s tight. Street parking is also available). I’ve stayed in SD a few times, and this was one of my favorite airbnbs there so far!

First time taking my 1 year old to see the ocean and beach; Dan’s and Becky’s place was a great place to visit to do it in. Very close to the water, nice location to visit the both dog beach and ocean beach. Walkable distance to a couple coffee shops, and a couple of fun and family friendly restaurants. Unit was spotless, clutter free and inviting. Some of the amenities weren’t available when I first arrived but Dan and Becky were very responsive and gave quick communication to fix the problem!

My dog and I love coming to this area. My pup is obsessed with the famous Dog Beach. We booked this place for a week of relaxation and lots of time at the Dog Beach! This place was so perfect for the two of us. Up to date well kept appliances and the place was super clean. Very well done remodel. The decor and style of the place was perfect. Gave a very comfortable cozy feel. The couch and bed were very comfortable and the TVs were great!!! You can tell they did not cut corners on the update or furnishing it. It’s very refreshing to stay at a place that looks exactly like the pictures. The hosts were amazing. Very quick to respond and super helpful. The location was fantastic. Pretty much a block or 2 from the dog beach. I parked my car when I arrived and didn’t move it once while I was there. Was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go and the area is full of great places to eat, friendly people and TONS of dog lovers. I will definitely be staying here again!

This was our second time staying at the property, and it was great both times. It’s a very short walk to the beach and some nice cafes, with more restaurants and shops just a little farther but still very walkable. The unit was super clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Having designated parking is great as well. The hosts are quick to respond and very friendly. We highly recommend staying here.

Overall a good spot to take a rest. Lots of good food in the area that you can easily walk to. Parking is very limited so be mindful of that. We were able to get a large truck to squeeze into a parking area and thankfully the hosts saved us from having any tow problems from our first night there while we were trying to learn the area. This place was very clean and cute. The bed was comfy and check-in was smooth. The location was a little interesting with interesting characters that walk around. We tried walking to dog beach with our dog and toddler and a few interesting people made me feel uncomfortable. I’m also slightly on the paranoid side when I’m with my child. But for the most part it’s a decent area. There are a few dogs next store that kept barking at us every time we go outside and the dog in the front kept barking too. We enjoyed our stay and felt comfortable when we were in the house.

Can’t say enough good things about the unit. The renovation and design was so well thought out and streamlined. The decor was contemporary, modest and very tasteful. Kitchen was perfect and had exactly what we needed. Super comfy bed. Lots of closet space. Had absolutely everything we needed. We wanted to hose the dog down after the beach and Dan made sure we had a working hose. We found street parking easily and didn’t use the garage though loved having the option. Loved having a washer and dryer to clean and dry towels. Loved having a broom to sweep the floors daily. Super quiet in regard to neighbors. It is in the airport’s fly zone so lots of flights in the a.m and p.m but it didn’t bother us. The entire property is secured though the mailman (and maybe others) didn’t always close the front gate. Important to know if you bring a dog. Highly recommended this unit. Thanks again for having us.

Finding the location isn't too difficult. Knowing how to get to the back where garage was slightly tricky but only because we arrived at night. Garage is small like listed but we were able to back in a Jeep Wrangler easily & pull what we need. We don't mind the upstairs but if you bring a dog as we did, be sure they can handle it. Place looked great & they had all the basic stuff you need. Bed for us, a couple who are restless sleepers, did not like it. Too small & not comfortable so one of us ended up on the couch but everything was as described. Very convenient walk to the Dog Beach but sad that many owners don't clean up after their dogs. Overall very nice and amazing place. Well done!

The place is freshly refurbished and has a nice design. The neighbourhood is quiet and it’s so close to the Ocean Beach and lots of great restaurants etc. It has all necessities and really clean. Would definitely recommend for a couple’s stay. Hope to stay in Dan’s and Becky’s place again!

We absolutely loved this place, so fresh and modern and impeccably clean! Super convenient location, the garage was a nice feature (a Nissan Rogue fit just fine, enter the alley from Bacon St, in between Northside Tavern and OB suds car wash) We arrived to town earlier than expected, and we were able to check in early, which was beyond AWESOME 👏🏻. The patio was nice too, and Dan even brought us a BBQ grill to use in case we wanted it! There are some great places to eat nearby, but we like to save $ by cooking a few meals, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We used the well-maintained boogie-boards and beach chairs, and the foldable wagon was PERFECT for hauling all our gear to the beach everyday. The bed was comfy, the linens were lovely and plentiful, the pullout sofa bed was the best quality I’ve ever seen. I cannot wait to return (hopefully in November!) Dan and Becky really know what they’re doing, and it shows 😁

Exceptional property and hosts who know what they are doing. Beautiful unit and comfortable furnishings with attention paid to the details (i.e., coffee and creamers on hand). Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Owner communication informative and timed well. Other Ocean Beach units I considered did not have AC, but AC turned out to be critical in blocking airplane noise. Very walkable location which comes in handy as only small cars will be able to use the garage spot due to the entry angle from the alley.

I’ve stayed at a few airbnbs in OB.. none as nice as this one.. you pay a little more and you get quality. We had a lot of fun. We came with my 1 year old son and my dog Rambo. They had a packnplay and a highchair ready for us. The place was very clean and they had all the little things you needed. The main amenities here that you won’t find most places in OB were central AC, washer and dryer in unit, and your own parking spot in your own garage. 2 blocks from dog beach. We went every day morning and night. There’s a hose to wash the sand off hom. Only negative was my dog was afraid of climbing the stairs! I had to carry this guy up 2 flights of stairs every time we went out. He weighs 110 lbs… so crazy .. one other thing is below the apt is your garage so you don’t have to worry about anyone below you. It’s a little bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for.. I’d stay there again! We had a great time.. hosts were great..

I highly recommend staying here! This unit was very nice, updated, clean and private. We got to see two of the other new units while there and they were all just as nice. There are several outdoor sitting areas in the courtyard space - great for enjoying your morning coffee! There is a nice private garage for each unit so you don't have to worry about on-street parking. The beach, restaurants, and shopping are all walk-able (generally half a mile or less). Dog Beach and the north side of OB are just 2 blocks away - very easy to walk to with surfboard or beach stuff. This location is great - very close to the airport, or for a quick drive up or down the coast, trip into the city or parks, or other sight seeing adventures. We used a quarter tank of gas during the entire week we were there! The owners and managers were very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Our overall experience and perception was the general "vibe" in OB is very friendly and positive which just added to this being a "10" vacation spot, with a great place to call "home" for a bit. We hope to come back again soon.

Overall it was a clean and comfortable stay. I was there for a week long conference and it was a nice place to have as a homebase in the evenings! Just a few things to note: I did not personally love the neighborhood and there was an unhoused person sleeping in front of the garage one of the mornings I went out. There also was noise from the overhead air traffic which was tollerable for me but if you want something quiet, I'd choose a different area. Other small things to consider, if you are planning on cooking, be warned that like most rentals, the pots and pans are scratched up teflon. There are also no measuring spoons and there is an odd and unorganized assortment of kitchen tools and utensils. The rest of the kitchen was adequately stocked and met my needs. The bed was comfortable, though I am glad I brought my own pillow as the ones provided are very thin. There is also no bedside lighting, so if you are a nighttime reader be sure to bring a reading light.

Very cute apartment, easy to find and to get in. Does has a garage parking spot but only smaller vehicles will fit. I had a Chevy equinox and it fit perfectly. Anything bigger than that will have to find street parking. Apartment was cute. Clean for the most part. Linens did have some dog fur on it but it wasn’t something horrible. The bed was so comfy. Sleep really well in it. Planes to fly over head, so it can be a little loud but honestly wasn’t a bother at all. Very cute neighborhood. 5min walk to dog beach from apartment. Breakfast republic was a nice breakfast spot. All in all highly recommend this spot.

I can’t say enough good things about Dan and Becky’s place. My husband and puppy and I had a wonderful time; I’ve already told Dan and Becky we’ll be returning. The place was immaculately clean and very comfortable — and an easy walk everywhere (just two blocks from the doggy beach, which was the best). One of the reviewers a month or so ago had a couple of minor criticisms, and those had already been addressed, so clearly, Dan and Becky are very proactive owners, which I appreciate. FYI, they’re candid that the garage is small, and even though our car could’ve fit in the space, we knew we were going to be in and out a lot, and didn’t want to risk scratching it – so we chose street parking, and never had trouble finding a spot within a block or two.

My stay-cation met my needs and it was good to be back in OB. Positive: Spacious 1 bedroom. I enjoyed cooking my own meals and then watching a movie on the comfy couch. The bed was very comfortable too. Nice walk to beach. Negative: The ally it was on was messy and I heard someone going thru the garbage in the middle of the night. Views from the apartment were kind of blah. Getting up and down the stairs with my bags was not easy and a little unsafe (I have bad knees).

We loved staying here — the space was exactly as described, and its location in Ocean Beach can’t be beat (we are regular visitors to the area -- this location had a really easy walk to beach, OB’s Main Street (actually called Newport Av), restaurants, coffee — all are 5 to 15 minutes walk away). The rest of San Diego isn’t much further away by car. The weekly farmer’s market was a real treat — if you’re there Wednesday afternoon or evening, be sure not to miss it! Garage is a tight space as mentioned, but we were able to park our Toyota Rav4 inside — otherwise there appeared to be ample street parking (at this time of year anyway). The kitchen was particularly well-equipped, and the entire place was very clean & welcoming. Thank you Dan & Becky — you’ve clearly thought about what guests might need/want. We hope to be back soon!

Dan & Becky’s home was the perfect place to stay whether you want to explore the town or just take a day for a little R&R at home. Located in the heart of OB, there were plenty of local restaurants and bars right on the beach to check out. The location is 15 minutes from anywhere you may want to check out such as Gaslamp, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and 20 minutes from La Jolla. The garage made parking easy and while the battery for the garage door died, Dan & Becky were quick to solve the problem and followed up with a phone call to make sure the issue was resolved. Instructions were clear, check in and check out was simple, I couldn’t recommend this Airbnb more. Thank you Dan & Becky!

I stayed for a month. I had a great stay, the location is perfect! The apartment was great and extremely clean and comfortable. The proximity to the dog beach was unbeatable. It was a fairly quiet street, and it’s a mix of long time residents and Airbnbs. The only thing I think future guests should be aware of is that it can be a little loud on Trash days (Mon/Tues) since the bedroom faces the alley. The garage is also pretty tricky to get into (I drive a Mazda CX-5) because the unit on the other side of the alley has their dumpsters facing the garage narrowing the ability to pull in or out. It’s possible but takes a few tries. I would happily stay here again!

This is our third time staying at this location, so I can pretty safely say it’s become our new home away from home. The location is perfect – just a few blocks from the doggy beach – and the place itself is immaculately clean and extremely comfortable. We especially like that there’s a Keurig coffee machine, a teapot, TVs in both the living room and the bedroom, and a sofa with a high back. FYI, our car does not fit in the garage, but we have never had a bit of trouble finding street parking.

Host was very clear on directions. Both getting into the garage and into the apartment. The garage is small. We had a Toyota Highlander and because of the space in the alley, it was a 3,4,5 point turn to get it backed in. There was another car parked out front which made it difficult to pull straight in. But Highlander, Traverse, Enclave, Explorer would be as big you could really go. They made this clear and it was appreciated. There were no street spaces available, so we were glad we could get it into the garage. The space was immaculate. Clean and comfortable. Cold water in the fridge (filtered water in a container). Glasses, dishwater, silverware (although we didn’t use any). Full kitchen appliances. We walked to Dog Beach, about 4-5 minute walk. Easy. Hose outside is SUPER convenient for hosing off dogs, shoes, etc before entering. It’s downstairs right inside the gate. Plenty of trash space too. You can hear plans taking off constantly. With fan on, it helped. Would stay again.

My 5 night stay at Dan & Becky’s was great. Every morning my dog & I walked a block and a half to the Dog Beach and had a great time. My car stayed parked 75% of the time and I walked to the little downtown area to eat. I also cooked a few meals, as the kitchen is well furnished. The sofa & bed was comfy, and I relaxed more than anticipated. The neighborhood was clean and I felt safe, everyone was pleasant and by the time I left everyone knew my dogs name. Great location, excellent apartment, would stay again! Positive: Super easy front door and garage codes. Loved the furnishings and linens. Everything was in great shape. Even though it's a dog-friendly place, only a few dog hairs found. The washing machine, shower, having beach towels, and prime location to OB and to shops/restaurants were great. We love the People's Co-op, so it was a nice extra bonus to have Dan and Becky's member # to use there. Very helpful to have the hose outside to rinse the sand off. All pretty much exactly as described. Our rental car did end up being slightly too large for the garage/parking angle into the garage, but it was mostly easy to find close street parking, except on the weekend. Negative: It would have been nice to have a small pantry with things like vinegar, oil, and a few spices. We don't like to use coffee pods because of the plastic waste, and so ended up buying a coffee dripper since we were there a whole week. It was mostly very quiet, except when some other guests with 4 dogs checked in partway through our stay and the dogs cried for hours at 6am. I messaged Dan and Becky and they were able to contact these guests and we didn't hear the dogs again after that.

We’d stay here again, easy walks to all sorts of restaurants, grocery shopping, and the beach. Positive: Cute as a button and very comfortable. Negative: The dog next door howled up a storm during the day when left alone.
