San Diego locals since 1991, Dan & Becky love helping guests experience the city like locals do. Becky is a former defense-industry IT Project Manager and an avid runner. Dan spent 30 years in technology sales before becoming a full-time host and is often out swimming at Ocean Beach. They have two college-age children.
How It Started
Dan and Becky’s hosting journey started in 2003, when they bought their home in Sunset Cliffs. They began renting their downstairs studio to short-term guests and quickly discovered they loved hosting—helping travelers feel at home while sharing San Diego’s must-see spots and local favorites.
Over the years, they expanded beyond San Diego, purchasing two rental homes in Austin, Texas and managing them remotely for more than 15 years. Then in 2020, after a year-long remodel, they sold one Austin property and reinvested in a passion project closer to home: a 1946 triplex in the heart of Ocean Beach that needed a complete overhaul.
Over the next two years, they rebuilt it from the studs out—reimagining floor plans, opening up attic space, vaulting ceilings, and finishing each unit with high-end amenities and design-forward details. Today, the result is three beautifully upgraded spaces that can be booked individually or combined for larger groups—perfect for families, friends, and celebrations by the coast.
Where We Are Today
Since launching the triplex in 2022, Dan and Becky have built a reputation for detail-obsessed hosting—earning Superhost and Guest Favorite status almost immediately. They’ve since renovated and listed their Austin home, and expanded into professional management for other owners, now overseeing properties across Ocean Beach, La Jolla, and Lemon Grove.
Every property is still personally managed by their family. They know which mattresses need replacing, which sunsets are best from which balcony, and which taco shop is worth the walk.
